Medical-grade facials performed by an MD dermatologist — not a salon technician. Customised for skin concerns rather than fixed menus. By Dr. Reena Sharma, MD Dermatology.
"Medi-facial" sits between the salon facial (cosmetic-grade, standardised) and full dermatology procedures (laser, MNRF). It uses medical-grade products and devices, performed by an MD dermatologist, customised to your specific skin concern. We do not run "gold facial" or "fruit facial" off a fixed menu — we ask what your skin needs and build the treatment around that.
Carbon peel laser — for oily, acne-prone skin and large pores. Great for pre-event clearing.
Glow peel — gentle chemical peel + brightening serum. For dullness and uneven tone.
Vampire facial (PRP facial) — your own PRP applied after microneedling. For ageing skin, fine lines.
De-tan facial — pigmentation-targeting peels + Q-switched laser. For sun damage.
Acne medi-facial — salicylic peel + extraction + LED blue light. For active acne.
How we choose
On consultation we ask: what do you want to address (texture, glow, acne, ageing, pigmentation), what is your skin tolerance (sensitive vs robust), is there an event coming up (we time differently), and how much downtime can you accept. The combination of answers determines which facial — sometimes alternating two over the course of a 3-month plan.
For ongoing skin maintenance, monthly medi-facials are the closest dermatology gets to "routine skincare in clinic". Book a consultation and we will pick the right facial for your current concern.
Quick answers
Medi-Facials — Frequently Asked Questions
How is a medi-facial different from a salon facial?
Salon facials use cosmetic-grade products and standardised steps. Medi-facials use medical-grade products (peels, serums, devices) and are customised by an MD dermatologist based on your specific skin concern — not a fixed menu like "gold facial" or "fruit facial".
Which medi-facial is right for me?
Depends on your concern. Hydrafacial for general clearing/glow. Carbon peel laser for oily / acne-prone skin. Glow peels for pigmentation. Vampire facial (PRP) for ageing skin. We pick on consultation, not from a menu.
Is there any downtime?
Most medi-facials have zero downtime — Hydrafacial, Hydra-Glow, basic chemical peels. Stronger options (TCA peels, deeper exfoliation) may have 2 to 5 days of mild peeling. Plan accordingly.
How often should I do them?
For most concerns, once a month. Cumulative effect over 3 to 6 sessions is significantly better than a one-off. Some patients with active acne or oily skin do every 2 to 3 weeks initially.
Are medi-facials safe for sensitive skin?
Yes — we customise gentleness to your tolerance. Mandelic peels, lactic acid peels, basic Hydrafacial without active ingredient boosters all suit sensitive skin.
Do I still need a daily skincare routine?
Yes, more than ever. In-clinic facials are ~20 percent of your skin's outcome. The other 80 percent is what you do daily — SPF, retinoid, vitamin C, moisturiser. We will plan both.
